Welcome to Baker Acted in Florida. We will soon be exploring the abuses of Florida’s “Bake Act’ and the abuses that occur under this so-called “law” to “help” people with mental illnesses. The fact is, Florida’s mental health system is nothing more than legalized pill-pushing on an unsuspecting public. If you have mental health issues and are poor or indigent, forget it, you will be especially abused by the system.
We are especially looking for stories of abuse from Baker Act facilities that “care” for those without insurance. Keep in mind, the care you will receive if you have $$$ and/or insurance is a lot different if you are poor, or uninsured.
We will be offering you links and documents so you can report abuses by those licensed in Florida to the State of Florida Health Department, Licensing Division and, since the state won’t do anything to them anyway, offer a way for you to post your complaint here in PDF. We will also provide a link to groups that help those caught in Florida’s mental health machine.
